Carefully designed to help caravanners who have difficulty manoeuvring their caravan, or are not as young or fit as they would like to be. It features the most powerful motor/gearbox combination built into a heavy gauge steel chassis with twin drive wheels.
The very first Mr Shifta was built in 1989 and produced in small numbers featuring a distinctive grey cover set. These were superseded by the first full production model (simply called the Mr Shifta, as no subsequent models were originally anticipated) with black covers, manufactured from 1990 to 2000. These utilized a single reduction combination motor/gearbox from EMD in Halstead, Essex.
In 2000, the Mr Shifta 2 was introduced with bright yellow covers and a new multi-reduction motor/gearbox by Parvalux in Bournemouth (who eventually acquired EMD), delivering nearly three times the torque of original models. Production ran until 2005, when the final evolution—the Mr Shifta 3—was launched. While maintaining the high power output of the Shifta 2, it introduced an adjustable handle for a space-saving upright storage position and an intermediate transport angle.
The essence of a successful caravan mover is applying sound engineering principles. Shifta Products recognized that the hitch is the only structural point on a caravan specifically engineered by manufacturers to push and pull under power.
Al-Ko Kober—who manufacture roughly 95% of all UK caravan chassis—recommended this hitch-coupling method and famously warned that chassis damage caused by other styles of movers would not be covered under their warranty. In a Caravan Club survey, over 95% of users stated they would recommend the Mr Shifta to friends—a satisfaction score far higher than any alternative mover on the market.

If your Mr Shifta control box is failing or inoperative, we offer bench-testing and component repair service starting from £85.00.
Please package your control box securely and send it directly to Barry Wilson at 18 Church Lane, Sutton on Sea, Lincolnshire, LN12 2JB along with your name, contact phone number, and a brief description of the fault.
Originally designed for Al-Ko Kober couplings (which accounted for 95% of UK caravan chassis and even bought units for their own testing), early flat-topped locking discs worked perfectly. However, from the mid-1990s onward, multiple manufacturers introduced hitch heads with varying contours on their underside faces, and Al-Ko changed their designs as well.
To prevent the flat locking disc from rocking and causing instability, a series of 6 different aluminum sandwich castings were created to bridge the gap between shaped couplings and the mover. Because of frequent secondhand trading, these castings have historically been in high demand for new owners matching units to specific caravans.
We accept payments via the following methods:
Follow these guidelines to keep your Mr Shifta operating smoothly for years.
Tyre pressure is vital for correct ground clearance and traction. Ensure your mover tyres are kept strictly inflated to 30 psi at all times.
The Mr Shifta carries its own semi-traction battery on board. For optimal performance and cell longevity, we have always recommended using a Varta LFD75 battery.
Store your mover in a dry shed or garage during winter months. Ensure control box connections remain clean and dry to prevent corrosion.
